Default induction idea..TRUE cowl or SS hood?

This is beyond just a "body look" idea, I'm actually wondering what would ingest air better.

My idea:

I want to ditch the LS6 intake for a "FI setup carb intake". Since I do not have a MAF, I would like to just slap an air cleaner on top of the TB (leave the TB pointing straight up) and go. I am already cutting out the cowl to make room for this (the car is just am empty body right now) so I can make room.

NOW, with this in mind, I could EITHER

actually pull air in THROUGH the cowl (a cowl induction hood) OR get the VFN 3" SS and build a scoop that would ram air that way....

Which one would truly WORK BETTER?

PERSONALLY I'm thinking the SS would look cooler (perhaps I could squeeze in a butterfly scoop).

i think the best would be a sunoco style hood (with no body line). if you are good with bodywork, it would look awesome if you could turn that into a true cowl.

ya that one, but from all the pictures, it looks like that hood only has a VERY SMALL cowl on it. you could leave as is or modd it so it has a much larger cowl. that would require A LOT of bodywork though, but in the end it would look great
