Where were all you guys to help me out about this heat soak crap a year ago? This thread made me a little angry because it seems that everyone who was against the BBK or any aluminum manifold for that matter had "0" experience with them. There's even a post in there that shows where GMHP (I think) posted that the BBK made 10 rwhp and 15 ftlb's more torque than an LS6. Nobody cared they just wanted to yell about heat soak. Take a look. I posted side by side pics, gave temp readings and did everything I could to show the potential of this manifold. I finally just gave up.

Here's one that shows an improvement of 21 rwhp over an LS1 manifold. This is with a stock unported manifold and an 80mm TB. Imagine porting the manifold and then either porting the TB or port the opening and go with a bigger TB. Star Performance had up to a 96mm TB with the stock bolt pattern.

ALso I've been searching for about an hour and can't find it but there was someone on here that went from a BBK and 80mm TB to a FAST 90/90 and said he only picked up something like 10 rwhp. Wish I could find that post.

No they are not, but easily could be drilled and tapped for direct port NOS...

James, I wouldve helped if LSx's were my main focus a year ago. Around then, I was still in mode.

Here is a article that I remember reading a while back that CONVINCED me that metal intakes arent as bad as some people make it seem...Hell, if it was OK for all the carb and early efi guys w/o problems, then it should be ok for us to... here is the article of a FI guy using a Weiand intake:

Its between the LS6 and a Weiand (ported) intakes...Since both have been either in the single digits or made single digit power, I figured I couldnt go wrong with either of them behind ~80mm's!

I don't know what power or boost #s your after but if you decide to stick with an LSX based manifold design (I'm sure you probably already know this). Have your injectors flowed and put the stronger ones in the back and step up to the weaker ones in the front. It's a known fact that these type manifolds get more air and tend to be leaner on the back cylinders. Thus the reason to step up to a Victor Jr. or GMMP manifold for more even distribution. Most don't have a problem but I've seen many detroy the #7 & #8 cylinders due to this. FWIW I don't think you will see any difference in the LS6 and the Weiand on an FI setup.

Yeah, I was aware of the potential lean-out problems on these engines and I did think about doing a carb style intake but I havent made any final decisions yet. And the only reason I said a Weiand was the fact that I like having the ability to gut it out for more flow in nec. probably more so than a LS6 intake.

Maybe someone should post some more carb style intake info in here.

Read a little furthur down...

"the '00 makes 784 ft-lb of torque at 6,000 rpm and approximately 1,100 horses at the same peak! We're quick to point out that this is without a shot of nitrous and only 20 pounds of boost from the twin hairdryers"

Thought you might like to see this pic of my Weiand. The port on the left is finished, the right one I had done the top before I thought of taking the pic. But as you can see, the bottom of the port needed to be opened up some. The line on the bottom of the right port is where the stock 241 head intake runner is. So it really needs to be port matched even to stock heads to make the most of it.....

No plans on getting it flowed. Nearest place is an hour drive and charge $75/hr to do it...

Watching and waiting for the LS1 96mm setup from Typhoon here.

In theory, satin should cool better than polished, but probably not a huge difference.
Ceramic coating black on a satin would be "sleeper" and would radiate heat off the manifold better.
Does anybody have any opinion on the above, or is all too trivial to worry about?
My dryshot would cool that sucker down in a hurry anyway, and my main desire is to get the big flow up top my cam (234/240) craves.
Currently on LS6 with a ported/bumpstopped 78mm & PP 243 heads with bigger valves.
