Question if u have true duals is there any point in adding cut outs?

im getting ready to run true duals before the axle and was wondering is it really worth the extra money to put cut outs in it before the bullet mufflers? would i be gaining anything sound or power wise? ive never had a true duals car so im wondering thanks.

you will gain power yes, simply because you are bypassing the mufflers, which created backpressure no matter how free flowing they are....

honestly though...you may decide to do it more for the sound than the performance...TD's flow so well that opening the cut outs will yeild minimal results....good results none the less....

I decided to run QTP electric cut outs...I am going to have a cut out added right after the collectors...so when I roll up to a car show or whatever, I can really wake it up...it sounds great coming from under the car as opposed from the back...especially w a cam

your call in the end

Seems to me that you wont gain that much with the cutouts. Save your money, you might need to change your dumped setup after while.

yeah id say no...if they were over the axle and out the back like I have with a CME, then youd probably see better gains but since youre dumped....i think gains will be next to nothing and sound will be very similar!
good luck bro

I could be completely wrong here but I'm thinking you would lose power depending on where the cutouts are placed. I'm thinking you need SOME backpressure. Further down the pipe on a over the axle setup you may have minimal benefits.

On a dumped setup I *think* its possible to actually lose power.

I agree, I think cutouts on a TD setup would be a waste of money.

Backpressure is bad.

Period.
End of story.

Don't confuse backpressure being good by looking at cars with restricted systems that allow for high exhaust gas velocity at low rpms but choke the system at high rpms. It's not that backpressure was good; it was because the system was sized optimally for low rpms and tuned accordingly.

does anyone have a sound clip of true duals with open cutouts mounted up close to the collectors with a healthy cam they'd like to share with the group?

i just bought a pair of McCord cutouts for my td's because i thought when i get a t-rex cam, that it would sound amazing opened up at cruises. am i mistaken? i think that for show, it's worth the $175 shipped i paid for them being that they're new, wired up, and compared to how much we're willing to spend on paint & rims to make our cars look the way they do. any thoughts???

i got them from a member here who decided not to use them. i've already hooked power to them and they work perfectly, have never been installed, and are 2 1/2" each, same as my duals, and are wired into 1 switch.....they're frick'n sweeet! lol. anyway, they'll sit in the box until i get the T'rex in the car because i'm not very fond of the sound of open headers with a stock cam, just not impressive sounding to me. i'm pretty sure i'm gonna like hearing each cylinder fire with a lumpy cam like that though!
