Default Tach Install?

I'm trying to get my tach to work in my car but it won't. I did a search to see what I needed to do and all I could find is to hook the green wire into the #10 white wire. Is this wire on the blue or red plug? My car is a 1998 will that make a difference? I did find a white wire numbered 34 and the tach would work, but it was 700rpms lower than factory. A little help would be appreciated.

The number 34 white wire was the one. We also had to cut the orange and brown wires on the tach and it works good. It's about 200rpms slower than the OE tach until about 4000rpms then it's dead on.

Well remember the OE tach is a slow, worthless POS.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking cause the OE tach shows idle at 1000rpms and the new tach shows 800rpms. Just listening to the car I don't think its idling at a grand.
