Default Removing the harmonic balancer on 00 LS1

I have remove the crank bolt without any issues but I don't seem to have the correct tool to get the harmonic balancer out. I got the tool from sears but it requires a pulley that has 3 threaded bolt holes. The harmonic balancer i have doesn't have any holes nor threads. It almost looks like their are flanges, 3 of them, like you could turn something to lock into place on the harmonic balancer.

As far as I know this is a stock ls1 harmonic balancer. Could anyone give me an idea on what to do? Thanks!

You need a 3 finger type puller, which you can rent from autozone. Give them the price of the tool, and when you return it you get all your money back.

You can't beat free. You need the biggest of the 3 sizes they have, I believe it's the 5 ton puller.

http://www.ls1howto.com - Look under cam or head & cam install.

I just replaced my stock pulley a few weeks ago with a 25% underdrive. I went to Oriely's, got the biggest puller they had like 01formula6 said, even though I think I got a 7-ton. Since I was not installing a cam, I didn't take off my radiator or fans. It makes it a little harder. I used 2 claws, put them on the inside of the pulley facing out, and start cranking. When you put the balancer on again, remember your crank bolt isn't going to reach all the way. I used about 7 inches of allthread-16-course. It's a metric bolt. Use this along with a few nuts, and a washer to press the pulley on your crank until your bolt can reach the threads. I know I'm going on and on with this, but I ran into a huge headache because I didn't have the right tools when I started. Good Luck.
