Keep the cats. I just love the fact that while my old Camaro and now my Z06 produce more carbon than my 2006 Scion xB BUT they produce less air pollution than the "clean" Toyota.

As per testing by the U.S. department of I can't find the link listing the info I wanted to show.

Keep the cats because the law is just going to get worse and worse and the extra 2-5 hp you keep isn't worth the nasty *** exhaust (mine stank to high heaven the week I drove without them).

hmm... when i lived in NJ, i heard it was a $10K fine for running a none antique car w/o cats or hollowing them out. the difference from high flow cats to no cats is about 2-3rwhp depending on what bolt ons you have done...
lets recap...
+2-3rwhp
or
-$10k in the hole...
I kept the high flow cats...

It is not you that gets the 10k fine. It is normally a shop that is practicing this.

You did the right thing. You are not giving up more than a handful of hp. Plus you will have an exhaust that doesn't smell and sounds a bit better.

So im hoping that'll make up for the cats... previous to this setup i have had flowmaster 80 series...
I have SLP long tubes, dual high flow cats(SLP) with dynomax bullit mufflers that dump at the axel. She is pretty loud. Sets off car alarms as roll I down the street. I'm looking at running my 3" duals over or under the axel to get rid of the loud interior drone. I might put powerpack mufflers before the tips to quiet it down even more.
