I don't understand why they wouldn't make it wider in the flat spots so that it didn't lose flow area.

Even if in reality you won't lose much HP, a lot of people will take one look at it and be turned off by it.

they look pretty nice. i'm impressed for an ebay company. i'm still uncomfortable considering purchasing them, though. has anyone had a problem with the ebay headers? has the ebay header company made good and corrected the problem? i'm scared i'd blow a primary or something due to a shotty weld and be left with no warranty or something. i mean, it's not like you have a nice established company to return them to.

id be less worried about the flat spots as the actual merge. id be curious to see just how much of that is actually opend up. just like on the pacesetters when every single owner who actually looked in there ended up breaking out the die grinder.

Thought that I would throw this out:

Who all is running these headers with a custom X or H pipe for true duals? All this talk about the damn y-pipe, and I am not hearing any other options.

Just installed a set of there corvette headers on my dad's 02' z06, and they are great, great quality, and great sound as well, well worth the effort!!!

Got a set of headers for my Camaro, still gotta put them on and hoping that that stainless y-pipe comes out soon!!!

because you don't need the extra flow area. a 3" y-pipe will support more horsepower than the vast majority of the people on this website will ever need. you simply don't need that flow. for example, if your car produces enough horsepower that a 2.5" y-pipe can support it without losing any, adding a 3" y-pipe won't net you a single horsepower gain since you don't need the flow. what you have to worry about with those dents is the dents slowing down the exhaust velocity. the dents in the y-pipe, for 95% of the people on ls1tech, will not take away horsepower based on flow. it will take away horsepower based on disrupting the way the air flows and slowing down the velocity. i've said it before and i'll say it again, flow is overrated. exhaust isn't all about flow, and honestly, if you have enough horsepower that that y-pipe isn't enough to support you, you're nuts for even using a y-pipe setup and should be using true duals.

i think what jordan mean was, is anyone running a non-y-pipe setup with these ebay headers? why so much talk about this y-pipe? why so much hate? why so much obsession? why not just go custom or TSP true duals? they'll fit fine since they're made to bolt directly to the header collectors and you won't have to worry about both waiting for this y-pipe and having y-pipe dents. if i ever got these headers, or any headers for that matter, true duals are a must IMO.
