its illegal to put the turndowns on the muffler? i heard as long as the exhaust exits beneath the trunk its ok.

I heard it was behind the back seat, but I was wrong too.

Must exit the rearmost portion of the car, like the license plate has to be on the frontmost (in TX). Dumping out of the muffler like you're talking about will probbaly pass though.
