Borla Or GMMG with an Catted Y
The POLL says it all.
Is it just me, or do people knock other products and they probably don't have any first hand experience with them whatsoever? I've never heard a Borla on a LS1 before IN PERSON, so I'm not gonna knock it and tell someone it sounds great or sounds like garbage. I simply don't know. I'll tell you my opinion on something I own, have owned or have heard IN PERSON more than once and for an extended period of time to get the full range of said exhaust. (I.E. My buddies TA with LT/ORY/TSP Rumbler.) Sometimes I just want to
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Longtubes + Cats + GMMG = NO RASP
Longtubes + Off Road Y + GMMG = Raspy
Get cats if you plan on getting longtubes or just bolt the GMMG to your stock manifolds/cats and you'll be happy and RASP-free.
You are probably gonna get some rasp due to the resonance of the aluminum block and the firing order of the LS1. It is virtually unavoidable without some serious modification or major restriction.

It's not a good thing in this case, oddly I used to love GMMG and just fell from favor after hearing more setups.
GMMG does have some rasp with no cats but all systems will. I have cats on right now and everyone compliments it, saying thats exactly how this car should sound.
I've heard borla on a 10sec 346ls1 with no cats and it's got a lot more rasp than the GMMG. The best way i can describe it is if any of you are in band/orchestra, get someone who plays trombone to put the slide all the way out and play as loud as they can while pulling the slide in. You will hear an obnoxious raspy/blatty sound. That's what i think of when i hear borla with longtubes/no cats. The pitch is also a lot higher (not deep) and more refined, like a corvette exhaust system. And what happened to the price, it's more expensive than GMMG now, it used be below $600
Also i think the plate thing is more novelty than anything else, how often are you actually gonna change it??? You think you will but then i doubt people do once it's on
i dont understand why your asking why you should get GMMG. If you dont like the sound, dont get it. You won't notice a difference in performance with either, choose the one you think sounds/looks the best
Not really. I change my plates all the time depending on who is riding in the car or how long the trip is. Also QTP makes a cutout for the Borla so you can change sound from the cockpit.
