Default Catted Vs. ORY

I already have a magnaflow catback system and was lookin to put on some decent headers. What kind of performance gains can be expected with a catted setup as opposed to an ORY setup?

The cats will only cost you 3-5 HP ish, so there really isn't that much of a performance gain by running W/O cats. Cats will also make your car legal and will help reduce the annoying sound of the LS1 rasp and stong exhaust fumes.

Go with a catted ypipe, it sounds and smells better. Performance loss is negligable.

You really won't lose too much HP when going with the catted y, but you will lose the great smell of gasoline! YUM...........

The ONLY real benefits of a catted Y pipe are 1. keeps you somewhat legal (even though ALL LT's are illegal) 2. Helps cut rasp
Benefits of a ORY
1. Better ground clearance unless you get a catted Y pipe fabed at a shop
2. Cheaper
3. I like the raw sound of a V8 withOUT cats

You lose very little with a quality high-flow cat. However, I prefer the sound and smell of being catless.

i have no gas fumes from my ORY/LT bolt-on car. i'm willing to bet the quality of the tune has a large role in that

since you dont have loudmouth, id run an ory. **** even if you did have LM id get the ory. either way with LT's and catted y, you gained a helluva lot more then you lost. good luck.

Summit Sells Dynatech system which is stainless and everything up to where the cat would meet the y pipe

Im gonna go w/ QTPs or Kooks... and I'v got a GMMG catback, so w/ the addition of SS LTs, it'll be a completly stainless exhaust

See what people are forgetting though is that QTP's dont offer a stainless Y-pipe, its aluminized. Kooks however does offer a stainless y-pipe. I belive Kooks, Dynatech, and Stainless works are the only companies whose whole setup is SS, correct me if Im wrong.. I was going to go the QTP route myself but am tempted to do the kooks now b/c their whole system is SS and it'd match my SS borla...... who knows what I'll end up getting. Either way, all the systems are good, its just a matter of what you want, what you can afford, and which system fits your needs.
