Questions about my planned exhaust setup.
I plan on runnning Pace Setter's LT headers w/ 1.75 inch primaries.
^^ polished, ceramic coated
I also plan on going with the GMMG catback.
As for the Y-pipe, I'm undecided.
My questions are:
1. Will the Pace Setters ever rust? My car gets wet a lot and sometimes sits outside for periods of time, and I don't wash it every week.
2. Is the GMMG catback stainless steel? Will it ever rust? I want the car to have a deep tone not a high pitch buzzing sound. Also want it to be fairly quiet on the highway doing 70 in 6th gear.
3. What Y-pipe should I go with? Shoud I have cats, if so what kind? I don't want the exhaust to drone on the highway. This is my DD, so I will have to live with it. Also my car is lowered around 2 inches, if not lower. Will I have clearance issues?
Will I be able to tell a significant increase in power, or will it not be enough of an increase to tell, just a lot louder?
Thanks,
Nick

1. The pacesetters will rust. You will see surface rust develop first and if the coating comes off (after long periods of use) then they are vulnerable to rust since the metal will be directly exposed to heat, air, and water. If you don't want any problems w/ rust, go with stainless.
2. The GMMG catback is stainless steel. It wont rust. The GMMG is a chambered catback so it will produce a deep sound, BUT when combined with headers the sound you will get will not be deep. It will be more buzzing.
3. Not sure about what y pipe you will want to go with. I have true duals.
I don't believe clearance should be an issue. If you are completely set on going this route i recommend some high flow cats, as it will help to keep the buzzing sound associated with headers and a chambered catback to a minimum.4. Headers will definitely net you some power up top (rpm band). The kick in the pants will definitley be noticeable. I'm not sure how effective the GMMG is, i know the sound is good. However, it is chambered so airflow is indeed restricted just a bit. Either way, this setup should net you some nice gains. 30rwhp is not unheard of. Good luck with your endeavors.
then i added edelbrock long tubes with the edelbrock off road y-pipe i still get the people saying it sounds amazing.
i think it great nice and deep but when pushed to redline to me is music.
crusing the highway in 6th its taim but throw it in to 3rd and wow that mustang will head back to the farm.
true story:
i was at a car show and i friend i havent seen in a while came over and talked to me, (longtubes, ory and lm II) and he asked if he could hear the way it sounded. he loved it, a guy in a mustang gt shows up and starts walking by around the time he was done reving it up. me friend said to the guy in the mustang. "hey you want to run that pony" the mustang driver said "hell no, not the way that thing sounds"
Can someone make a list of catbacks for our cars that are stainless?
Also a list for stainless LT headers please.
Thanks!!
