Tickets for loud exhaust
#5
Check all local ordinances. Some (Many?) have decibel limits. If the ticket is written for excessive noise and the cop didn't provided a db level on the ticket, I'd fight it unless he wrote a equipment violation ticket as well (like for no mufflers, for instance).
I got pulled over once in my old (1979) Z28, which had a 500HP 406 with dual 3" exhaust (full) using FM Top 10 mufflers. It was not quiet at all. Cop said someone called in a car running uncapped and he heard me go by. He asked if I had mufflers and I said yes, please look. He did and said ok, thanks, and left. No ticket.

None here...but the police seem to like the domestics a bit more around here. I've even had a few officers give me a thumbs up.
Ironically, I was driving next to a buddy of mine that drives a WRX and he got an exhaust ticket....My car is like 10x louder than his.

I have gotten more tickets while running mufflers than without..
i got a disturbing the peace ticket while with no cats/no mufflers. It was only cause i drove by an apartment complex.
I have gotten 2 excessive noise by loud exhaust tickets and my car is 40% quieter than it was before..

Maybe the cop was just annoyed at the sound of 4-cylinder muscle tone wannabe?

Never had one either and I run LT's ORY and cutout on both my cars. I have a elec plate on the LS1 car it gives me some piece of mind being able to close it in case I stuck beside a cop at a light. In 2 years I they have never bothered me. But over christmas I let my friend drive the LT1 car and he got a warning for loud exhaust.

same thing happened too me, but mine is an 85 z28 w/ a 383. my ex-fiance's neighbor complained, cop said in NJ that he wouldn't have bothered but b/c he got a call.. he had to follow up with it, but no ticket once he saw a muffler and what looked like a cat
