Default Cutout placement?

Alright I was trying to decide whether I should go true duals or just install a cutout and I decided on cutout. This was based on price, clearance, and "other work" (PHR relocated, over or under axle, etc.).

Anyway I have a cammed 94 T/A with the exhaust consisting of Mac mids, no cat, and Magnaflow catback. The cam is a cc503 and although I'm satisfied with the sound I'd still like it to be a little more choppy. I'd like opinions on where to weld the cutout? In I-pipe, or where the cat used to be, or up higher towards the Y-pipe? This is my daily driver and I don't want to scrape on everything which is why I don't want duals either. If I like the way the cutout sounds I'll probably buy the electric valve afterwards. This also has an effect on the placement of the cutout so it will be easier to wire. But most of all I want my car to chop it up when I'm idling!
As it sounds now:

Sounds pretty good. A cutout will definately make it louder. I'd put it under the rear pass. seat if clearance is an issue and you just want one cutout. You'll have plenty of room for the E-cutout and there is a grommet to run the cable through as well.

Ahh, an LT1. I think that cam is a 224/230 if I am not mistaken. Sounds kinda like my 224/230 cam in the Z. It will not have very much chop due to the fact that it either has +3 degrees of overlap or -1 depending on what LSA this thing is cut on. A cut-out will hardly give it more chop. Just noise.

Yes it is a 224/230. Very good ears and memory you have! Also it is cut on a 112 LSA so I have no idea about overlap? When I was reading about cams I read about duration, lift, and LSA. Maybe noisy is what I was going for, I just really wanted to hear the cam more than anything.

Yea, you'll hear it a good bit more with the cutout. Maybe one day I can recognize a cam just by hearing it too.

I would put it before the muffler after the axle..a few people have one there..I am going to move mine there from under the pass.seat due to clearance issues...you can get at it easier back there also....do a search..there are some pics of peoples c/outs back there.

I guess it will be going before the muffler then, right before it turns up to go over the axle. Also what brand do you recommend? Do I need a stainless one to weld into my Magnaflow? Lastly what size do I need? I'm thinking 3inch because thats what size the catback is right?

You can get a stainless one if you want the pipes to still look pretty. I would do a 3" as well. I hope that it isn't a pain to weld to identical pipes together though.

Either way, a cut-out is a cut-out.

112 = 3 degrees of valve overlap. You will have a tad-bit more chop than you do now.
