You need a flat plane crank, less displacement, and a lot more revs to get the ferrari sound.

I always figured, if you were to have an exotic sounding F-Body you'd have to do the following:

run a 1 into 2 merge collector (3" into a pair of 2") off of each header, and route it tucked up, running 2 pipes on each side into 4 bullet style mufflers (or small chambers from classic chambered), and straight out the back ...

you'd have something unique, difficult to do, and would sound insane

NEVER ever gonna happen unless you change the engine.

Why buy a muscle car???

[b]It's not the exhaust that makes a Ferrari sound the way it does.

It's due to several key factors:

1. They are ALL DOHC
2. Some are V12's
3. ALL the Ferrari V8's are single plane V8's and have an equal firing order, where as most other V8's (Ls1 included) have an uneven firing order.

It is point 3 that makes the biggest difference. And thus it is physically impossible to make an American OHV push rod V8 sound even remotley like a modern Ferrari V8.[/quote]

If you want a more exotic sounding exhaust tone then running a dual exhaust with an X pipe and some bullet mufflers is probably the closest you'll get.

it talks about why the corvette and camaros sound different yet the same engine, they seem to be mentioning the symmetry of the exhaust, I am wondering if their is a way to obtain a Symmetrical exhaust with a 2000 Z28 Camaro. I am also wonder if Symmetry has anything to do with it all if this is not the way to go would anybody please tell me the best way to get the Ferrarish sound in the Camaro.

It wasn't the exhaust it self, more the fact that it would produce a Ferrari like sound.

I think my car sounded rather exotic with the Corsa cat-back. I think that's as close you are gonna get without something custom.

Now with adding headers and catted-Y, I'm not real sure what it sounds like. Modified exotic maybe. It's just evil sounding now.

Basically True Duals with an xpipe crossover, is the closest you are going to get to an exotic sound, for the engine reasons mentioned above. But at high rpms a True Dual xpipe does "scream" different than most other V8s, it pretty much has an exotic "Tinge" to it.

True, but remeber stock internals and 6000rpm is about your max. You'll need a cam and suporting mods and head bolts if you want to spin to 7k or above. It'll sound different for sure, but it won't sound like a Ferrari.

LOL...

like mentioned above..

The only way you'll get a ferrari sound is w/ a Ferrari engine...

Look at the Rolex 24...the Vettes have some high-tech stuff done to them and they still don't sound exotic...its all in the motor..

why do you think the 5.0 stangs have that distict tone.

If you wanna sound diffrewnt, throw on a Mangnacharger and hear it scream..or maybe a set of hairdryers(turbos)

other than that, your stuck w/ the poor old american sound

Granted, but like I mentioned that's the closest you are going to get.

Corsa = exotic sounding. When it gets a H/C/headers it is exotic/hellish sounding. This is probably your best bet, when you start custimizing it gets expensive and you never know exactly how it will sound cause each TD exhaust is different. Find someone in your area with Corsa to get a better feel for it in person.
