didnt do the tips on the install as it was just supposed to be a mock to see how i was gonna like it. i am very please with the exhaust. clearence is no worse than the ory that was on the car, performance is awesome and the sound is fantastic. tips will be on very soon. will be getting it fully tuned tomorrow and even my tuner is excited about the wide-band bung in the x-pipe.

It's funny that I came across this thread. I have been running true duals (X-pipe with Dynomax Bullets dumped) on my car for a while now, but the lack of clearance has really gotten to me. I want to lower the car and there's no way I could do it with the true duals. So now I'm running open headers just for the hell of it as I try to figure out a new setup. And the setup I came up with is exactly like this:
I want those exact tips on my car with full oval tubing from the end of the collectors for clearance reasons and so you don't see the pipes hanging under the car. But with the link you provided, those things cost nearly $270 each I'm not about to spend that much on a tip. Are there any other tips from someone else that I won't have to sell my left ******** for that look like that? Also, do LS1's need a crossover in the piping somewhere? If not, I'll just run the left header out the side with oval piping with a tip similar to that and the same for the right with no crossover. I will also need some type of muffler so I'm not just running open headers. I guess I could just use the Dynomax's I have attached at the end of each collector, but it would be cool to integrate a muffler into that tip (like the one you provided, but not costing such a ridiculous price).
What do you think?

Sorry, I didn't read the whole thread, I just got the gist of it. I had to leave to go to the hospital for a while and didn't have time to read the whole thing.
Well are there tips out there that resemble these? I was thinking of doing this:
Attach one of my Dynomax Bullets to the end of each collector on my long tubes and then run oval piping along the side of the car (by that I mean under the car and out of sight, but offset so it is under the door in a sense) with a tip resembling these BOOM TUBES (!!!!!) exiting in front of each rear tire as close to the body as possible. Now if I did something like that, would I be needing a piece of metal like the one shown in the picture to prevent the body/paint damage from the heat?

FWIW: If you guys are intrested in boom tubes, check out musclemotorsports.com. They sell used cup car parts. Boom tube tips start at $35, and complete boom tubes are $150. Oval flat pipe side exit is even cheaper.

On a camaro with the side skirts it would look nice as long as it done right like everyone else has mentioned. BUT to anyone doing this on a firebird for the simple reason that the rear bumper needs the exhaust to fill out the holes that are there FOR THE EXHAUST TIPS. If the bumper had a kit on it to fill out the holes then maybe it would look okay on a firebird but I say leave it to the camaros. Fit's they're body style better than a t/a.

You didnt have to, it says it up there BOOM TUBES lol
Why not just DUMP it under the car? If you not doing boom tubes, there no reason for it to looked hacked and out the side......
Make sure you paint the piping FLAT BLACK so you dont see it like that SOM car looking all nasty
