Default Kooks Headers

I just order a new set of Kooks and heard they've change the collectors to a venturi style. Is this something new? How long have they been doing this? Does anyone have any pics of the "new" headers? I'm not really sire if I'm behind the times on this or not, if so, I'm sorry.

Thanks.

I know they are using them on the D-port f-body headers (LS7, L92 heads, etc.), but not sure about the rest of the line.

There's an interview from with George from Kooks.

venturi collector is just a "collector" nothing fancy about it but the name.
QTP has the fancy high velocity merge collector with a velocity spike added.
Stainless works sells them alone for about 230bucks.

i thought about the Kooks but the qtps fit just as good, same material, a better merge collector, and 140bucks cheaper.. Only thing i like bout kooks better is their y pipe.

The Kooks I put on my GTO had the merge spike.Hooker also advertises the merge spike on their super comp. headers.

You are correct, but one point you overlooked is the fact that Kooks will stand behind their product if any issues arise.
I found that not to be the case with QTP.

I've got a semi-related question about the Kooks. I notice several websites sell the kooks with either a weld-on collector or a slip-on collector. What's the difference? The slip-on always costs more.

Well, I might've answered my own question, and it looks like what I thought. The slip-on collector isn't welded to the primaries? What doesn't make sense to me is why that's $70+ more than the welded ones. Oh well

Possibly better ground clearance. And they can sit closer to the floorboards? Anyone else?

The spike in there is huge, you really can't tell in pictures, here's one of mine (Kooks 1-7/8).

It comes up a few inches past the O2 bung, and it starts at where the tubes are welded to the collectors....

Because they are made for race/tuners who want to find the optimum primary length for their particular application, as in "tuning" the exhaust pulses/scavenging for their optimum HP/TQ. 95% of the people who install headers care less and never worry about that extra bit of HP/TQ.
