Do you folks giving advice have any idea what effect cold air does to metal (especially aluminum) if it's introduced radically when you decelerate? If you're concerned about your valves, then, for it. Sure you can get away with it for awhile, but, why risk a major repair bill? These motors aren't cheap to replace internals.

You should be OK for a week or two ... wouldn't run open headers for much longer than that, though.

I drove my car with open headers from Charlotte NC to Philly Pa and then to Albany NY, the second leg was with my girl friend. I went back to my high school shop class (it was x mas break from college). Got it running through the slow master again and fired it up, and my shop teacher could see the disapointment on my face. I miss the sound of open headers, I need some cut outs and true duals.
Do it

... did something similar on my bike a few years back and warped the valves, but, it was in freezing weather ... about 10 degrees farenheit.

Man, I enjoyed it for about 2 weeks when I coated my exhaust. My cam made people hate me. I had one lady flip me off as she was covering her ears....just idling at a stoplight for 20 seconds. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Just put my shot O2's back in and it is open FLP's for me.
