Default Traction control delete and keep cruise

I have done a search on this but couldnt find the info i am looking for, I hope I am in the right forum, I have a 98 z28 and cleaning up under the hood Well I have traction control and checked it out today and couldnt figure out how to delete it, What is needed to delete traction control and keep cruise? I believe I am gonna have to change the throttle cable to like a 94 style with no traction control, I might be wrong though, Also how would I keep cruise since it runs to the traction control box? Please help me on this I am stumped and have done several searches for this, Also pics would kick *** aswell, Thanks

You'd need a new throttle cable from the cruise box to the throttle body, and a new cable from the gas pedal also to the throttle body. I believe people have tried it before, not sure if it worked out. If the cables turned out to be the same length when you yanked the old ones out, just take the new ones back.

A solution I thought about is trying to put the TCS module under the PCM, there's a pretty decent cavity under there, and it might fit. I hate the way that thing looks under f-body hoods, glad mine doesn't have it!

Why the hell would you want to delete TCS?

It looks like **** under the hood, it's less weight, and nobody actually uses that ****.

I've never seen it under the hood, all I know is its a button next to my shifter and I always have it on if i'm driving in the rain

I just did a search on this the other day https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...ghlight=cruise

I absolutely loved my TCS paired up with a set of winter tires in snow driving. The car drove amazing through some **** most other RWD cars I saw were stuck in. However, now that I've got a truck too, the Z never sees crappy weather. I've been having problems with that and my ABS (believe a sensor is bad), so with it disabled, I don't have any of those issues. Its hideous under hte hood, and a super cool benefit....the indentation in the strut tower there is the PERFECT shape and size to mount an NX nitrous solenoid and purge solenoid tied together and bolted into one of the TCS module bolts with the solenoid bracket

I'm in the process of it. I need to order my cables still. I called the dealer and the cable for the '98-00 cars is discontinued. There was a dealer in Indiana that had one he said. I've got an aftermarket throttle body that accepts both the early and late style cable, so I will be buying the cable for the '01-02 cars.

The 98-99 throttle cable (without TCS) is 12565559. Good luck finding one.
The 00-02 throttle cable (without TCS) is 12565560. This one is readily available, dealer quoted me at $29. SDPC has it for around $18.

The 98-99 cruise control cable (without TCS) is 12554668. This part was $39 at the dealer and $25 at SDPC.

The 00-02 cruise control cable (without TCS) is 12563627.

You need to buy the cables for a 98-99 or change your TB to one with the later throttle cam or an aftermarket TB if you want to get the more readily available cables.

Personally, I'm going with the '00-02 throttle cable. Haven't looked into it yet to see whether or not I'm going to need to buy the 98-99 or 00-02 cruise cable.

The new throttle cable will connect your gas pedal to the throttle body, and the new cruise control cable will connect from the throttle body to the cruise control module. These cables are far easier to tie out of the way of everything else and look much cleaner

With mine on It always wants to push my foot of the pedal even when I am just cruising, My front tires are a 35 profile and my rears are a 40 profile, Maybe that is the reason but screw it I am taking it off,

Only good thing about TCS is that you can run your ABS with a 9inch. Other than that I dont think its needed.

Ah okay, I'll update my post. Maybe its an updated part number? Or I could've just typed it wrong... lol

I just ordered the 00-02 throttle cable and 98-99 cruise cable today, so I should have them by end of this week or next Monday at the latest to verify it all works

I think a PAC TR7 module can be used to automatically "press" the button for you after a short time delay. I need to look into it, but they run under 30 bucks shipped on ebay. As opposed to the $70 + shipping SLP device.
