Default Power Steering Cooler

IS the power steering cooler on the SS's really necessary? How much effect does it have and is it possible to delete it without doing damage to the fluid or pump? Also if deleted, do you just loop the hose to allow a continuous flow of fluid?

Thanks
Bryan

why bother, if you were to remove the cooler you would have to get a new lower radiator hose. its not costing you hp.

i replaced my cooler with an air cooled unit. and yes, if you deleted it you would probably be fine as long as you didn't do any hardcore autoX or the sort. Just loop the input & output like you said.

Get rid of that piece of ****!!!!!

Its a pain in the *** when it goes bad & leaks PS fluid into your coolant. I just had to fix mine & I deleted it. Haven't had any issues yet. Just get the upper radiator hose that is for cars not equipped with it & you'll be fine.

When I did mine we replaced the upper & lower hoses, thermostat & coolant. Then flushed the PS system. As stated above if your not running Autocross, its not needed. If it was all f-bodies would have been equiped with them, but they weren't.
