underdrive pulley problem

Default underdrive pulley problem

I know the concept behind the u/d pulley. Someone told me they were not good for a dd or a car that wasn't strictly a track car. I drive my car mostly on the street so would i benefit or hurt my car if i put a u/d pulley on it?

I don't believe that. All it does is help get you into your power band quicker!

5-10 rwhp.

However, if you are like me and have aftermarket audio stuff, or anything else that puts more strain on your electrical system (electric water pump...), get an overdrive alternator pulley if you're set on doing this. I just went back to the stock pulley. I didn't like the weak power steering at low RPMs.

How much do u/d pulley's go for? Is it worth the $-hp ratio?

About $200 buck. I'd say it's worth it.

I've got a ASP 25% U/D pulley. I'm running a 750watt 5 Channel Amp with no Cap and I have no charging issues whatsoever on my DD car. I've been running it now for well over a year! I did decide however not to go with an electric waterpump, so I think if you're running an aftermarket amp, you have to decide whhether you want 5-10 RWHP from a pulley for $200 or 5-10 RWHP from an electric waterpump for $500. Your call, but I don't think you can get away with both unless you run the O/D pulley on the alternator.

Iv got a March U/D pulley and i could tell a difference in performance right off. Its also a daily driven car and iv had no issues at all w/ it.
