slp rates their HP gains at the fly.. not at the rear wheels on all their products and performance packages

I used the crappy pacesetter gaskets so you can hear an exhaust leak right off the header.

Man this is crazy loud. I thought the backfire might have been from it running a little bit rich? Im not sure, I will check all the bolts tomorrow. Anyone else had a backfire problem after a longtube install. I use to keep her below 2000 rpm but now I can not keep my foot out of it. What I thought is kind of odd is that my SES light has not come on yet. I am going to get a small tune, when the converter gets put it so im not worried about the dumb cat codes popping up. I want to go to a parking garage and see how many alarms I can set off

My car backfires sometimes. I have LT's and catless duals dumped.

I dont have to drive through parking garages to set off alarms. I just drive thru the neighborhood

I think it was either HPP or GMHT that did an awsome write up on SLPs performance packs a few months back and Showed the real world results of their LTs and I'm very eager to throw em on my car now! They get bashed on allot because of their price and clearance but the few on here who have em say that they would never trade em up for anything else. I'll give em a shot!

how about this..... SLP's arent coated. they arent terrible headers, there are just better ones out there for the price. I know SLP makes you all warm and fuzzy inside with their "dyno numbers" but those kind of gains are normal with all LT's.... I loved my Jet Hots.... still love them with the STS! i'd say go with coated headers to keep some of that heat out of the engine...... yea, and that loud sound is normal!! your LS1 can now breath!!! just watch out for coppers!

btw the only thing wrong with the slp's that I have heard is the price ( I think they are stainless Steel though) and that they hang a little low. I picked pacesetter is because I live in a dry area (Oklahoma) so rust is not that bad, and they are cheap. However, I am very pleased with fitment. I got the car really high, and they went in. NO cutting or unbolting of the steering. I am very pleased. I have just seen a lot of used slp headers with dents in them from hitting stuff. I have yet to hear that they lack in performance or sound though.

"SLP's aren't coated.".....WTF!.....maybe you should pick up the catalog and do a lil read'n. They ARE coated inside.....AND out!

And yes,..I know it will create the same sound and identical power as another company's LTs......I'm not stupid!! I LIKE THE COMPANY and I like the fact that I was able to read with my own eyes the real world results on a track with similar parts. SLP parts haven't failed me!

You guys are some "Jackin *****

I had a small leak at the header gasket that I really could not hear, at first. It backfired a little, like yours. As the leak got louder it back fired more. It will get louder if you use the cheap gaskets as they burn away. Most people use the stock manifold gaskets. They seem to work the best. Good luck, you'll get it.

BTW SLPs= good headers, bad ground clearance and biggest PITA to install PERIOD
Kooks = Good headers, excellent ground clearance (they hug the the floor pans) and normal install challenge
Pacesetters= good for the money

This is an old and very tired argument.

Loudmouth and LT's=LOUD. I've been running that setup for bout 2.5 years, up until about 2 weeks ago, when the LM resonator got replaced with a Classic Chambered Powerstick. The exhaust is quieter going down the road, but just as loud, if no louder WOT.

Oh yeah, negative on SLP LT's. That is all!
