I would bet its either an exhaust leak or just the valvetrain noise reverberating through the exhaust, mine does it to and it drives me crazy.

My car was doing that and it was driving me crazy...Turned out it was a blown header gasket.

My LS6 does it as well. Sounds like crap. I checked everything and it was fine. 45,000 later and still ticking.

Agrred I found this out a long time ago. I have a .600 lift cam & it is quieter w/ the stock rocker arms on it.

I be if you took a long screw driver and held it to your ear and touched it to a few of your injectors you would hear the noise, Mine makes a tick noise it's just those damn injectors, as long as they are squirting fuel, I just turn up the music and don't worry about it.

maybe even a weak spring and the rocker arm is hitting the retainer... i had the happen to me on double springs from comp cams that were good up to .600 lift on a pre '86 motor. springs were brand new..
or maybe your pushrods are too long???

My LS6 does it as well. Not too noticeable under the hood, but if you kneel down by one of the front wheels you can really hear it. I need to check my 02s, since I had my exhaust completely welded I know it's not that.

My car ticks as well, has been doing it since 11/06. Car runs fine, and is like most everyone else says, most noticeable if you kneel down by front wheels.

They all tick. My stock LS1 ticked, so does my current one. The LS1 I have now sounds like 8 sewing machines instead of a 8 cylinder. Its just the name of the game.

Haha, the best is when you go through a drive through....You'll hear the tick echo off the walls and it makes it sound louder...it is super annoying....although, there is a good chance my driver's side header has an small exhaust leak...eh owell, still sounds good and hauls ***.

Ok I just checked all 8 plugs and wires. One plug on the drivers side was loose, and one wire on the passenger side was about to come off. After fixing these 2 things no more tick, tick, tick.

My tick is quite noticeable outside of the car, inside with the radio on or the AC, you cannot hear it at all. Oh well, one day I'll find out what it is.

Since I did change the plugs about 2 months ago I figured what the hell!, might as well check, #3 was a bout a half turn loose, so I snugged em all and reseated the plug wires and well..... No more tick!

Thanks for all the information on this ticking sound. I was just making sure I did not break anything that would cause me to drop more money in areas i dont want too.
