are you talking about having an x-pipe that goes into a dual in/dual out type muffler? because going into an x-pipe then back into a y-pipe that leads into a single in/dual out muffler would defeat the purpose of having an x-pipe.
bassani makes a true dual style catback with an x-pipe that exits the rear of the car otherwise texas speed makes a true dual system that dumps before the rear axle.
i believe the bassani will give you stock like ground clearance. a little modification will need to be made to fit them to longtubes

The only way you are going to save your ground clearance is 1) don't run any type of muffler, or 2) run a single dual-in dual-out muffler in the stock location. You could also fit a pair of bullets before the tailpipes, but that's hardly sound-deadening. Bassani uses a dual-in dual-out muffler, their dual system works very well. I ran it and gained tons of midrange power, right where I am most of the time in the rpm band.
