Default Sound level from these mufflers?

I think I'm jsut going to bite the bullet and just go for some duals before I go crazy trying to decide. I'm going to try to drive down to the shop today and get a date signed up with them to have it done. Now I need to decide on a muffler. I want mufflers that will keep it fairly quiet during idle/cruising, but can be loud up top when I want them to be. How do these mufflers sound as far as noise level (will be out the back over the axle)? All of these will be on LT's too.

ORY & Hooker (now)
Flowmaster 1-chambers
Sweet Thunder
Borla XR-1s
Dynomax Bullets (loud, I know.. lol)
Magnaflow

Thanks

I guess for now I am mostly interested in the Flowmaster and Magnaflow. Thats what the guy at the shop can get.

Which mufflers are the people using on LS1Sounds when they say flowmaster 1-chambers? Are they talking about the 10 series delta force? In the duals sticky it says the flowmaster single chambers are good, and then later on it says the "Flowmaster 10 Series are also worth a look" like they are talking about different mufflers. So which ones do people use? A part number would work too, then I can look it up myself.

Thanks again to anybody who helps.

Well, I'm signed up for getting 2.5" X pipe over the axle with Flowmaster 10 series single chamber mufflers. How loud is that going to be at idle/cruising? I hope it's not too incredibly loud. I do want it loud at WOT though

I just did my duals with 1-chamber flowmasters and all i can say is i am glad i did.....THey are REALLY deep at idle but not to loud and are pretty loud at WOT.......Made my car sound like an oldschool muscle car.....I really love it!!....oh and mine are dumped just before the axle there is a lil resonance and vibration at 13-1500rpm but its all smooth after that, even on the highway.

as long as you're not running a bullet or a resonator by itself you shouldn't have a problem with that.

with my stock cam my sweet thunders aren't too loud at idle. Just a deep pleasant rumble. (mine are 3" ran out the back too) Anything other than idle though, and it's sweet loud music to everyone's ears. With a cam though, they will really wake up the neighborhood. I'm swapping to a TRex next weekend so I'll post up and let you know how that goes.

My buddy has the TSP TD's with sweet thunders and a torquer 3.....his idle is kinda loud but not very deep sounding....IT just screams at WOT and sounds all NASCAR like. MY 1 chambers are alot deeper more bassy sounding....like i said they made my car sound old school, and my cam is way smaller than his.

I would have gone with flows as well, but I wanted to be and sound different than the rest of the rednecks in their trucks around here. lol You should see the look on their faces when I tell them what kind of muffler it is. "Huh?"

Ok, I have a couple questions. I just got a call from the shop that has my car right now, and the guy who owns it talked to me and told me the flowmasters are backordered right now, and I need to call him tomorrow morning to see what other options I have.

Ok, so my first question is; Would there be any problem with using a 3"/3" muffler with a 2.5" pipe? I don't know if he checked to see if the 3" mufflers were back ordered or not, so if they arent and using them isn't a problem I'll just do that.

My second question is this. He just quickly told me another another muffler they have there. He said "have you ever heard of twisters?", and then he said they were developed by Dr. Gas, and he did mention Spin-Tech. I looked on their website and I don't see anything with the name 'twister' though. What could he be talking about? If they are just the Spin-tech mufflers, how do they sound(only one not very good clip on ls1sounds)?

Thanks

it wouldn't be a problem to run the 3"inlet/outlet flows. Just have to adapt the pipe.

Any idea what he was talking about with the other muffler? Am I missing something that Dr. Gas makes called a twister?
