Obviously these gentlemen have installed headers before, they know how it works.

Seriously though... you might want to buy a case.

I dropped a header bolt on the passenger side..and it didn't hit the ground..spent about 30 minutes looking for it...can I just buy another bolt at the store? or does it have to be specifically a "header" bolt?

Check the K member, there's a spot where I lost a bolt, and it stayed there for 10,000 miles I found it last wednesday...lol.

I suggest getting a new header bolt from the nearest GM dealer. I work for Advance, and seem to recall that we don't carry bolts for our cars.

I dropped a bolt on my header install, and found out that the k-member ate it about six months later.

I'd look in the k member. When I had my car in the air the other day I found 3 old exhaust manifold bolts. Plus after I installed the nitrous I changed to a colder plug and lost one. I still havent found it, its probably down one of the roads around here.

My brother and I started my LT header install today. We got all the old exhaust off, and manifolds. Deleted the AIR and EGR. We had to grind the tab off the drivers side. We also have one bolt holding in the drivers side header for the night.

I hope we can finish this all up tomorrow. We got all that done in about 3.5 hours and have never done an install before. good luck with your install.

I was surprised that I didn't have to grind the tab off...that last passenger side bolt was a bitch for me...did you take out the plugs and coil packs?...I wish I'd had somebody helping me today lol...all i've ever done before is change the oil and rotate the tires

You'll only have the fronts plugged in at that point. You don't really need the rears anyways.

We had no choice but to grind off that damn tab. We had to take about 1/4" of it off the front of the tab and then the header slid right into place.

We have not removed any of the coil packs at all. We did however remove all the plugs and plug wires for now since I am changing the plugs at the same time.

If you do the EGR removal instead of a freeze plug i put in a 1 3/8" metal plug into the intake I got from Advanced auto. (Well i did not get it. I sent me wife there to get a freeze plug and she came back with this odd looking plug.) I will get pictures and a purt number for you today after work.

Hopefully the rest goes smooth for you!

James

Best advice to you is that while your installing the headers, on pass. side if you see an issue arise about getting them in, pull that starter! We did it from the get-go and I swear the install was about 2 hours less b/c hands could go up that area nicely to pull old header bolts with no prob.

man, i didn't have to cut, grind or remove anything other than the stock systems and the dipstick for the passenger side. broke the porclin on the #5 plug , but the car had 25k miles on it so they were due anyways...

Wow, the Pacesetters didnt come w/ new bolts? My kit did. I swear to god some of the stuff they send changes month to month...my kit came with EVERYTHING, including bolts. My friends came w/ only gaskets, and his runners werent quite as clean as mine. Crazy.

Anyway, yeah, check that K-member, **** drops in there and likes to stay there a LONG time. I swear to god I found one of my retainer keepers in there months after my cam swap...
