I've got an mti lid it looks good but doesn't even remotely come close to fitting right, which means it doesn't seal worth a damn and it's flimsy as hell, overall a very dissappointing product

I have the mti clear lid, worked great for two years, then one of the tabs cracked while changing a filter, now i have to epoxy Another thing about lids. is that you would be surprised that they don't really seal well in the back. Being mine is clear I can tell. This may be due to the fact I have the higher raised ws6 air box. The clear lid also doesn't look as good now that I switched to paper filters from the K&N, especialy the orange fram gasket
just my .02

Yeah whats with the lid threads lately?
I'm about to spend two Grand on a set of metal tubes that transport the waste away from my engine, so I'm particularly sensitive about having junky parts on my car these days.

2k for exhaust is pretty expensive. Just get an SLP lid they are nice. or you could get one of those CAI or other ram air intake kits.

SLP is supposed to come out with a new one, that sounds like the ticket. As for exhaust, I want to do it right the first time. If you add up Kooks, stainless ORY, electric cut-out, stainless catback and tuning, it's getting up there.

According to SLP, the new one won't have this feature...mine that I ordered last fall did have the plastic welded neck. They didn't give any details on when it would arrive or what it would look like, but I know they are working on it. As for the Blackwing, I've seen them go for $175.

The stock lid has a smaller volume, smaller outlet and contains some large air silencers/baffles between the lid neck and the conenction for the TB bellows.
