Default Junky lids

I have an aftermarket lid, and in addition to being of poor quality, I've decided that it also looks like a turd. I started looking for something different, but they all seem to look the same. Does anyone know if there's a good-flowing lid that's put together well and doesn't look like either a cheap, brittle piece of Chinese crap, or some kind of ricer junk? Is the Blackwing lid the only decent lid that looks somewhat OEM quality?

I thought they looked pretty good to me.

All of them are the same pretty much. The one that you have must be old or something.

What I don't like about them is they all appear to be made of that cheap, shiny brittle plastic, junky and not durable. The OEM (poor flowing) one uses a more pliable plastic that seems to (does) hold up better, and the Blackwing appears to be made of this same higher quality plastic. And of course you've got the clear ones and the painted "carbon fiber" looking ones which, I'll just say, don't fit into my aesthetic scheme.

I think the aftermarket SLP lid looks good. I just don't like the lettering on it. I don't think it's a decal or else I would have bought that one.

If you want quality, and don't want to pay the price that the Blackwing lids are going for around here, get the SLP lid. They are actually in the process of releasing an updated version that is supposed to be even higher quality (different molding process so the neck isn't welded together anymore). I've had 4 lids:

1. Original Blackwing
2. LS1 Motorsports Direct Flo
3. TSP 85mm
4. SLP aftermarket

If I hadn't sold my original Blackwing lid (like an idiot), it'd still be on there. The SLP is the next closest in quality. The TSP lid cracked, and the LS1 Motorsports probably would have had I left it on there longer.

I know, I hate that epoxy or whatever connection on the cheapies. You're saying the SLP doesn't have this? Or the NEW SLP one won't? I'll probably hold out for that, unless I come across a Blackwing. What do those go for these days?

Do you know when this updated one from SLP is due to come out, I really want to get a lid for my car but all of them as said above look really crappy and that two piece neck is really shoddy workmanship for $100 price tag.

I dont think the current lids are cheap looking. But i can understand what your are coming from. Looks like your only choice is the blackwing.

Ok, as for the Blackwing lid, I'll just say that I am in the market for one, if one should happen to find me.

I have not seen the DMS or LG, unless the DMS is the Direct Flow, in which case, that's what I have -- it's the typical cheezy epoxy glue job on two brittle plastic parts. Mine started to break pretty much right as I took it out of the box.

I checked out the SLP "upcoming" parts section, and they don't say anything, but my guess is that a new one might be very similar to the Blackwing. They still carry all the other parts for the original Blackwing, so it would only take the lid section itself for them to have a "Blackwing II".

Hmmm...I wonder how a new Blackwing lid would affect the resale value of all those existing ones...
