Yea, I have done this. Gutted stock filter down to just screen and stretched a panty hose over it for track use ONLY. Don't know what it gains, but....might as well try I guess.

sorry i started this, i was just saying when i was down in houston and shrev port
and ennis texas i seen some guys running 4 gens , wide open throttle bodys
i figured because they were trailered cars thats ok . i spoes no maf and iat is
located some were else. by the way i went to the pinks all out in houston and
got to go to the nopi nationals, it was a awesome show..

i run track only with no filter never on the street.
id say what you seen were sd cars with no bellow or maf.
