New Muffler?

New Muffler?
So after putting on my LT pacesetteters(no egr/air) and ORY, I know what people mean by crapmasters. Yes I have flowmasters on my 98 t/a and did like the sound before but now it sounds like a old Ford pick up truck with rusted out exhaust. Some questions?
1. What new muffler can I get to quite it down a bit and sound a lot better?
2. Check Guage light flashes on/off very fast?
3. I now can hear loud ticking noise from engine?
Here are my main mods if they help?
I have a 98 t/a, A4, LS6 swap, 224/228 cam, pacesetter LT w/ ORY, Weiand Intake Manifold, SLP Cold Air Kit & MAF, 3.90 gears, 3000 rpm torque converter, 30lbs Fuel Injectors.

It sounds like your front o2 sensors may not be working cuz theyre too far down the line now that you have longtubes. This will throw a SES light, and the computer may muck around with odd air/fuel ratios causing misfire, since it doesnt know what air/fuel ratio is producing the oxygen results its looking for in the exhaust. Everybody has a chance of their stock o2 sensors causing this error in longtubes. One good solution to this problem if this is in fact the problem is to replace the stock o2 sensors with the corvette rear o2 sensors, Bosch 13111. They run i believe $110ish, come with plenty of length to reach the Longtubes without need of extensions, and are made to work farther down the exhaust line.
As far as muffler, theres a ton of mufflers out there that are what youre looking for; quiet at idle, deep and throaty under some load, and scream when you want it to. I just installed LM2 and am 100% happy with it. Some others I was looking into was Hooker, TSP Rumbler, GMMG, and Corsa.

Well I figured out some of my problems, The gasket on the driver side was set in a strange position so I just reset it and no more weird ticking noise.
Yeah the flowmasters are just to damn loud at any acceleration. I love the idle though. This may be the dumbest idea but what if I put a high flow cat on the I pipe from the Y pipe to the muffler... would that quite it down some or would that just be stupid?

I'm having a similar problem. I was going to BS everything and just get a tuner to figure it out while its on the dyno. I realized thats wrong and I should figure it out, do everything right. I'm waiting on O2 simms, if thats doesn't do it, I'm guessing i fowled out my O2s. I'll let you know when she's running right. And what fixed her. Learn from my mistake.

if your gonna get a cat, get 2 magnaflow metal cores #59959 ($89 each) and put em in after each header. I think that is the best solution. SLP dual/dual will still have rasp (friend had it) without cats, as will every other catback I can think of. I don't think just one cat in the i-pipe would get hot enough to flow well either
I havn't heard of the check gauge light flicking on and off b4. Check and make sure the sensor that plugs in to the front of the head on the drivers side is in securly. Mine was only partially in somehow after my header install and it either set off a check gauge light or maybe it was that the engine temp gauge wasn't working at all. It's been so long!!!!

You don't want to run just 1 cat in the ipipe. It will hurt flow. High flow cats are designed to be run 2 per application...1 per exhaust bank (2 in the ypipe).
Another vote for Magnaflow. One of the best refined mufflers we have.

Magnaflow stills rasps bad between 2000 - 3000 rpm's under load. Stock mufflers are your best option - such as stock ws6/ss oem mufflers or the dual dual.
Rasp is that shitty machine gun sound and every aftermarket muffler that I have heard has it when there are no cats. Just the way it goes.
