Dude I'd double check on those wires, thats what it kind of sounds like. Don't remeber if
it on the tail shaft or not, thats were it is on my boys 5.0 and his **** dont work either.

Definitely something wrong with the speed sensor, which happens to be located in the tranny which you removed to do the swap. If it's not unplugged, then check over the wiring and make sure it's not scuffed/shorted. It's possibly but not likely the sensor itself was damaged, although it would be the first time I've ever heard of that happening.
