ASP or March U/D Pulley?
My 4-5 year old ASP pulley (pre-SFI version) is coming apart and I need to get a new one. I want 25% underdrive and a reasonable price so I think that leaves ASP and March as choices. I did some searches and found problems with both but much of it is from at least a year ago (March was too tight, ASP comes apart). The March is a fluid-dampened design which I like but it may also have durability problems.
So, which would you buy and why?
Thanks,
Steve

I have a new March SFI, i havent had an issue yet and it seems like a really durable part, I cant picture it falling apart. Went on the crank just perfect too, not too tight but not loose.

ASP said their old style (pre SFI approval) would actually come completely apart upon final failure so I am now in a hurry to get mine replaced (the rubber is chunking out). They and our sponsors did not have one in stock so, by default, I ordered a March pulley with 2 day shipment.
I will post impressions and install results next week.

i've always heard that march had waaay more issues than asp. but if you're really worried about belt slippage go with an slp with the higher retention walls. or if you'd prefer to save $30 get a powerbond. it's literally the same pully as the slp just without their logo. when i get a pulley that's what i'm gonna go with.

I have a Powerbond 25% underdrive pulley I bought at TSP about 2 years ago. I've put 9k miles on it with no problems other than it threw the belt once and I'm not sure if the pulley threw it or if it was an accessory.

The only problem with a March is that it's a ROYAL PITA to get off as it doesn't have a regular bolt pattern that most pullers use. It requires a huge 3-jaw puller to remove it, which isn't TOO bad if you're only doing it once or so. I have personally done it 4 or 5 times due to other issues, therefore the next time it comes off, it will be staying off. Other than the removal issue, I like it. It has been a great piece and has held up to a lot of abuse of putting it on and taking it off.

ASP is more popular for sure... but I went w/ a March. W/ a dynomax catback and the March pully, my car dynoed 339 rwhp & 350 rwtq. I cant complain about that a bit. yes, i had issues w/ the belt, but I got a smaller belt and i havent had an issue since. Only thing bad I've heard about the March pulley was getting it off. This doesnt concern me right now b/c i have no need to have it removed.
