yes prothane is poly. they will keep the engine more secure and less rocking for sure, the tranny will tighten up also.

I would think it would stop exhaust banging but might not, we cant be certain

you dont know that. It was the issue for YOU, but perhaps not for him. Everyone has said that about my car and its not that at all, but I'm being told from Kooks that it was the way the headers were installed. My Y-pipe is touching the bottom of the car constantly. Looking at them, common sense will tell you that mine has Nothing at all to do w/ the motor mounts. Now, once I get the y-pipe off of the bottom of the car and it starts banging when I accellerate, that will be a different story. but the noise i'm hearing now is not related to motor mounts.

I specifically told Stainless Works this had been a problem with others I had spoke with and to make a note while making my headers to look out for this, but they obviously didn't . The headers themselves are the actual problem, primaries have to much bend in them, angling the collector up, making it way to close to the floor. I want to add poly mounts to fix the problem once and for all but I'm scared they will raise the motor some and make the problem even worse
I have kooks and I called them and they said its a common problem. Apparently, when being installed, the headers were tightened down 1st, then the Y, and so on... The headers should have been put in place and the Ypipe should have been tightened down 1st and once everything was in place, then the headers should have been tightened down. They said that lostening the header bolts should help drop the headers by 1/16th of an inch which translates into more clearance the further you go back. It will actually point the headers slightly down. Thats what they told me and thats what I'm going to try next. It makes sense

mounts could fix that problem then, but if the ypipe is constantly touching by itself w/ the engine shut off, motor mounts are probably not going to fix the problem.

No. Im not sure, but the general rule in this section is that if you're having exhaust issues, its 100% motor mounts.

"Yea, my exhaust didnt add the power I was expecting"
LS1 fallback excuse: "Its the motor mounts. change them."

From what I have heard, Poly mounts will keep the motor in 1 spot, not allowing it to move and keeping the pipes in place. If the pipes are hitting the car under acceleration, then that kind of points to the motor mounts. If you can move the exhaust over or anything to keep it from hitting, id do that. Perhaps even something like the bumpstop bracket.
