FLP off road pipes????

FLP off road pipes???? Ok I will be attempting this again..I want to install the off road pipes on the car, but last time I was unable to get the pipes to match up. What is the trick to get the off road pipes to fall into place on the FLP set-up (I have the complete set-up headers back). Any tips will be highly appreciated..Thanks..Michael

Re: FLP off road pipes???? If you loosen the y pipe bolts that connect to the rest of the exhaust, you can slide it back/forward as much as you need to fit the FLP orp's on there. How much of a difference in length are you talking about here?

Re: FLP off road pipes???? angle problem...the Off road pipes want to go perfectly straight almost up against the floor but the cats seem to hang a little at an angle..Michael
Re: FLP off road pipes???? Unless something is very wrong you should not have to cut anything.
Loosen everything except the headers of course, and wiggle everything. The pipes are supposed to be identical, but try swapping sides.

We had the same problems installing my FLP's that MAF is describing.We did finally get them to fit by jockeying everything around. But this is an ongoing problem with the FLP's and for an overly expensive set of headers this shouldn't be happening, their fitment SUCKS. I called FLP and talked to them about it and they made it sound like this was the first case of this they had ever heard of and got defensive with me. B.S If I ever have to change headers I won't go with FLP's again.

Re: FLP off road pipes???? I had my FLP's installed by a shop. Tubes in place from day one. A trick they used on the driver's side to get things better aligned, was to cut a slit into the top of off-road tube, bend it, and re-weld it. This changed the angle, only effected the powder coating on the tube and worked well. They mentioned I may need to do this to the cats, when it's time to install them.
Maybe it's worth it to go to a shop that can weld.

Re: FLP off road pipes???? Mark...thats funny, cause I got the same response from them. They are really nice guys but when I called with the problem they were like you just have to move it around a bit, but they do go on rather easy....well I will try again and see what happens.

Got the Off road pipes installed yesterday. I had to lossen the pipes but once the whole exhaust in front of the Y-pipe was loose I was able to slide the Off Road Pipes in....Now all I have to do is get the trans back in so I can hear the diffrence. If you have any problems with them leaking wrap the ends in aluminum foil...works wonders, I always tried to get the ORP's lined up and they looked straight and the clamps were tight as hell, but they leaked really bad...so one day we looked on ls1.com and this guy posted something about it and it worked amazing....its a really good seal... <img border="0" alt="[Fluffy]" title="" src="graemlins/fluffy.gif" />

Did you take off the pipes and then put on the foil or did you just put the foil over them while they were on and then what did you use to hold the foil on??
