Y-pipe design for Hookers

Y-pipe design for Hookers I just got off the phone with a Jet-Hot rep. I wanted to know if they could take some uncoated headers, weld a flange onto the collector, then coat everything together. They said they haven't done that before and something about not getting very good quality work from an exhaust shop near them. They don't recommend welding on a header that's been coated.
That leaves me with the option of getting a slip-fit y-pipe built and clamping it on. Anyone have one like this? Does it leak at all? Jet-Hot said Hooker's will most likely be this type of connector. They've been getting the "2-weeks" answer from Hooker every 2 weeks just like we have. The price it right though so I won't be as wary about hacking it up to put cats in like I would be with the $285 Mufflex pipe.

Re: Y-pipe design for Hookers Jake, why not just slip a 3" RT bullet cat on each collector, then slip a 3" mandrel bent turndown on each cat. If not cats, you should be able to slip dynomax bullet mufflers on in the same manner. That would be a pretty cheap and effective setup.
