Default Best shorty headers?

A friend of mine has a 98' TA, A4 car. It has the EGR tube cut, the air box mod - FRA maybe?, & lastly a spin trap muffler. She wants to put shorty headers on it, I know that LT's would make more power - but she wants to keep it simple. I was thinking Hooker brand shorties would be good, any input on that? What else would be good for a daily driven car? It already has a Suncoast WS6 hood on it, she is buying their ram air kit. I was thinking a 2800 stall would be fine for a driver as well. Thanks in advance for the help.

JBA makes probably the best shorty out there for our cars. If she already has the EGR blocked, tell her to get a set of 2001 shorties. There will be no EGR stuff so she can just completely pull all of that crap out of there.

I would tell her to keep her stock manifolds if she's only wanting shorties. If I were her, I would go with a set of Macs. You can buy them for cheap used, and they'll show a nice gain. I tried a set of Hooker shorties on my '98 T/A right after they came out in early '99, and I saw 0 HP on the dyno and 0 ET reduction at the track from them. The stock manifolds flow well enough if you're not looking to go with a longer header.
As for the induction, I'd tell her to get a lid and filter instead of Suncoast's kit. I had their Raptor hood on my T/A, and I bought their induction as well. You see this HUGE filter element and think that it's getting great flow. Just check out how the air has to get through the airbox. It has to go through a SMALL area after making a 90-degree turn. I sold mine and got a lid and filter, along with a WS-6 lower airbox. It worked well, and I would remove the baffles while at the track for TRUE ram air.
A 2800 Vigilante would work well in her car. It's a very tame converter, yet it will show a nice gain at the track. I shaved off exactly .5 in the 1/4 with a Vig 2800 in my '98 T/A. Just be sure that she installs a trans cooler with it at the same time. Heat kills transmissions.
