Default TB Bypass MOD: PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I have posted about this on LS1.com before, hopefully I will get better opinions from you Techies. I originally did the TB bypass mod after I read about it. Then 1 person posted that his LS1 decreased about 2-5 HP after doing the MOD on dyno. There was a big debate that the TB doesnt heat the air significantly enough to warrant a change in HP. I realize that it may be better to have a cooler TB, yet GM designed it to heat up the TB. After I read that post, I reversed it back to stock. Now, I did the Fernco coupler MOD and noticed that the heated TB slightly molded the ends of the rubber coupler to the TB shape. I was thinking maybe with the TB heat I should go back to the bypass MOD.....

Please give me your technical expertise and feedback...
1. Some say do the MOD (cooler TB+cooler air)
2. Some say keep it stock (May freeze in cooler climates, air flows so fast it doesnt have time to heat up.)

I live in Colorado but my car is always garaged and I avoid bad weather at all costs...... (My older cars with carboraters never freezed, how can my TB freeze?)

PLEASE HELP...................

Thank you,

I think it's a good mod, and it's certainly cheap. It cost me all of $5 in parts from Pep Boys. You're correct that GM did run the coolant through the TB for the cold climates. Even then, I still don't understand why. At any rate, I think you'll see a slight gain from this mod. If you're sitting in traffic or in the staging lanes w/ the car running, it's definitely going to hinder performance. The hotter the coolant gets the hotter the air is that's entering the intake manifold. It may not be worth a lot of HP, but every little bit adds up.
As for losing 2-5 HP on the dyno, there are SO many variables that could have attributed to this. Was he running AutoTap or some other scanning tool to make sure that he wasn't seeing a decrease in total timing at WOT? Was his coolant temp the same on both dyno runs? Also, it's perfectly normal to see a 2-3 RWHP difference on the dyno between runs. There are way too many variables that contribute to your final HP and TQ #'s that it's virtually impossible to see the exact same RWHP and RWTQ on every pull. You can't hold everything constant.
I say do the mod and don't look back. I do not see any feasible way that bypassing the TB will hurt performance. I did this mod on my T/A, and I also did it on my SS less than a week after buying it. It doesn't look like it has hurt my performance any.
