Default Catback that will make a difference

Well I ran my car at the track for the first time with the 3500 stall and I am impressed with it. All I have is FLP Headers, Whisper Lid, Maf ends, ST3500 stall, and a set of 17in BFG DR's. The only weight reduction I have done is rear seat, spare tire, and jack. No other weight reduction or mods done to the car. It ran 12.15@109.96 mph with a 1.64 60ft. The question is, I have the bone stock SS muffler on my car, will I gain anything by putting on a catback exhuast system? I have looked at the loudmouth because not only is it supposed to be free flowing but it saves weight since there is no muffler. But I don't want my car to sound like the UPS truck coming down the street. So will I gain anything from a catback exhaust?

Sounds like what you're looking for is a cutout. I don't think you'll gain much from most of the cat-backs out there except for better sound and looks.

I can't tell you if the cat-back will help because I'm using the stock POS also. I do have the 3" cut-out and it is good for a full 1/10th consistantly. This tells me that the stock muffler is quite restrictive , but the cut-out is cheap HP and I like the car quiet on the street. Our cars are almost identical except I have the ASP pulley and you have the FLPs. I have ran 11.90s through the stock exhaust manifolds, but this was with Perfectly cool dry air @ 3570#s. Looks like you picked a good one. Good luck!

I thought about the cutout. It would be a good solution. Just trying to figure out how restrictive that stock exhaust is, and if I could gain another tenth out my exhaust.

You're not going to gain anything over a cutout, but a quality catback will be nice so you'll have that added power on the street, too. The SLP dual/dual is really quiet, and it flows excellent. I've track-tested it three different times on my car, and not once have I run quicker with the cutout open vs. through the dual/dual. It's pretty quiet, and it doesn't have the raspy sound with the cats off of the car. I'm running FLPs as well.
