I run a 2 7/8's y pipe into a 3" intermediate pipe on my setup, with a cutout for the track.

I have a seen a 2 7/8's to 3.5 before. Looked HUGE. Probably good on a H/C car or forced induction.

I would run 1 3/4" headers unless you have a high rpm heads&cam pack, extra cubes or FI.

LOUD!

i have a custom off road pipe (2.5" non-mandrel bent) to keep a llittle bit of backpressure, but i have dynomax bullet mufler in teh stock intermediate pipe. it flows VERY WELL and is damn loud at WOT! race car loud! LOL -i dont drive it many miles a week! it is a fun exhaust.
