Default Newbie help on gapping spark plugs.

I'm in the process of installing the set of NGK plugs that I bought a few days ago. They were advertised as being gapped at .050, and that is what I was told the gap is supposed to be. When I checked the gap on the plugs, it is more like .055 than .050. Now I want to know how to close that gap a little bit. Do I just push down on the plug little by little and stop when I'm at where I want to be? Or should I just leave them at .055?

Quick help would be appreciated because I just installed the #1 and #3 plugs and I don't want to go any further without finding if I am supposed to close that gap or not.

Thanks in advance.

Chris

I would go through and set them all @ .050". That's what I have mine gapped at, FWIW. To close the gap, I stick the feeler guage in the plug and then apply moderate pressure on the tip of the plug against a solid surface. This has always worked well for me.

Now I can go ahead and finish the driver's side tonight then do the passenger's side tomorrow.
