How to fix SLP LS-6 EGR Modification!!!!!!

Default How to fix SLP LS-6 EGR Modification!!!!!!

Got Mark's SS fired up last night.

Unfortunately we were greeted to the lovely SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, from the EGR. Well, long story short the stupid design from SLP was broken even before the install. The top rubber O-Ring was split in half even before it was painted.

Please, how the heck do you fix this and how do you take it apart??? Thanks Guys!

Mine did the same thing. I just filled the whole area with silicone to keep it from leaking. Truly a ****-poor design. No leaks in months though. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

We're having a hell of a time getting any tools to fit in there. I found the big grommet on the McMaster-Carr website. Time for a road trip.

same thing happen to my 98z.called slp to send me a new fitting and o-rings. trash the old one <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> when taking it out.I know its a b*tch to get that thing tight.used ratchet and socket inside the intake.its fix now no leak.

I've got an LS6 intake on my kitchen table ready to be installed. I inspected this infamous EGR seal, and the grommets look fine on mine.

is the secret to a proper seal making sure the bottom brass nut NOT turn while you're tightening the top brass nut ? that's gonna be hard to accomplish, since there's not much room to get a wrench in there.

Well, we FINALLY got the damned fitting out. I have to honestly admit that was harder than dong the ASP pulley switch. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> Whatever lock-tite SLP used was a killer.

Just FYI the nuts / bolts are 30mm or 1 3/16". six sided sockets work the best.

We got it back together, with new o-rings and just for ovrekill sake, sealed each oring with some RTV. Gonna fire it up later this morning!!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Guy's, sorry I have to say this, but thats the reason why I designed mine completly different, I personally have a problem knowing that there is a nut attached to the inside of my intake manifold, lock tite or not. I am sure somebody will have a sure fire fix for it by the looks of the dialog above.

Just use the piece that LPE makes <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
It's a super piece that makes the intake look like a stock LS1 EGR setup. It's better than all the others...
