Y not just add a idle adjustment screw?
Instead of doing the drill out mod has anyone tried to just drill through the idle stop and thread in an adjustment screw? Wouldn't this do the same thing?

Re: Y not just add a idle adjustment screw?
A little over a year ago, Steve Harmon (sp?) developed a mod that lets you manually control the IAC valve. It'd let you lower or raise the idle from 600-2500 rpm. You basically take the solenoid off the valve and connect a throttle cable from a lawn mower engine and run that thru the firewall into the car. I've got some of the parts to do the mod just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Computer will allow an extra 100 rpm with out setting Hi idle Code, this was just the trick for my cam only swap no SES lights, good 900 idle rpm with a m6.

Re: Y not just add a idle adjustment screw?
there is an idle adj. screw, but if you mess with it too much the IAC freaks out and the car surges. Steve's or Richard's IAC mods would be best with no tuning, but unnecessary in most cases.

I just went thru all this with my car, you can adjust idle up 100 rpm without iac going nuts, surge is mostly from too little airflow and this chokes and loads up motor compounding the problem.
Use auto tap or equivalent find out what desired idle speed of computer is and adjust idle screw up no more than 100 rpm from there, this should be enough for most cams with out programming.
