Default x - h - or true dual

right now i have true duals dumped. I am probably going switch to side exit and see how that is. I am thinking of putting in an x pipe or h pipe any thoughts? It is freakin loud right now and i don't want it any quieter.

An X pipe will help scavanging an H will but not quite as well.

Side exhausts can be a tricky thing to fab on these cars.

Searching seems to be a tricky thing to do these days too. Do we really need another x-h pipe-side exhaust thread? Really?

Searching really is a difficult thing these days, have you tried it? Most of the time I get forwarded to google and you can't do very specific searches with google and you definitely can't do title searches which is IMHO the best way to search for info on this site.

I agree. The search here can suck at times. Did you see the true dual sticky?

X for peak numbers, H for sound. the H-pipe won't push the torque curve up as high as the X-pipe, so you'll get better low-end throttle response from an H-pipe along with a deeper, old-school tone and harder exhaust pulses. with an X-pipe, the torque curve will be pushed up causing less low-end feel vs. a H-pipe, but better top end pulling. the sound will be more high-pitched, so this isn't the way to go for old school sound.

IMO, the H-pipe is worth the few peak horsepower for the better sound. i'd rather have a car that sounded better and ran .05 slower in the 1/4 mile than a car that's a tad faster and doesn't turn as many heads. but that's just me.

if you have big plans for the car (a stroker or heavy FI), you'll probably want the X-pipe as the peak gains will be more significant (it won't matter much on a stock or lightly modded motor). for a track car, it's a better decision, but for a street car/daily driver, IMO the better sound through an H-pipe and better low-end throttle response is the way to go.

When I was trying decide, I found this:

http://www.donjohnii.com/Pages/Exhaust_Clips_Page.html

It is Mustangs, but you can hear similar set-ups with the only difference being an X or H. Personally, I like the X because I think it has a more crisp sound to it.

maybe in the future if i get sick of the noise but for now i love it. Outside more than inside though. Thats part of the reason why i want to do the side exits. not as much noise or vibration inside the car but should still be about the same outside i figure.
