Fuel smell on 98 VETTE
Fuel smell on 98 VETTE Replaced fuel cap. helped but no cigar. Smells more on drivers side. Is it the 'tube' between the 2 tanks? Anyone? Thanks. 14000. miles also. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Re: Fuel smell on 98 VETTE I had one C5 that had a fuel leak sometimes when the car was parked. It ended up being one of those quick connect fuel line fittings close to the left fuel tank. It wasn't pushed in all the way, but was in far enough to not leak until the car was parked a certain way I guess.
It was not the main pressure line, maybe an emissions line or something.?

Re: Fuel smell on 98 VETTE Thanks. I don't get the smell untill I start and/or drive. I just got off the phone and I was told that it's probably the 'tube' between the tanks. Buddy said they crack/slip off. Today is the day to find out. 6+ hours per side. Fun fun.

Re: Fuel smell on 98 VETTE OK. Tried to take off left side an lo and behold it wouldn't come down. I finally made it come down and seen what the problem was. Someone installed a Amp and screwed it through the body into the top of the tank. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> They never learn.
Re: Fuel smell on 98 VETTE Yep. I remember when the installed cell phone came out and they (aftermarket) were drilling holes everywhere. Through A/C lines in vans, ect. I was all 'gasy' after removing the tank, so I'll do a closer inspection of the intierer(sp) Monday. But I seen 3 holes inline of the cross-over tube. Hope the didn't get to happy with the drill. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
