Default NEED INFO ASAP: How do you REMOVE an ASP pulley?

There are some bolt holes in the pulley for using a puller on it. Anyone know the size of the bolts that will thread into the holes on the pulley?

Yes, it'll be for sale soon. I'll be selling the crank and alt pulley with belts for $190. I've decided against using it after reading all the data out there regarding harmonic balancers and dampeners. My decision is final. My butt-o-meter won't miss 10 horsepower.

But... I'm looking for longevity and read some articles by some experienced engine builders who think it's a bad idea to eliminate the GM engineered dampener and balancer. I wasn't going by what Joe Schmo said.

We got the ASP off no problem with the right puller but now the trouble is getting the original one back on. It's a real bitch and won't go on far enough to get the bolt started. I tried the heating it up in the oven trick but it didn't work. Project delayed. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

you need an installer that threads into the crank and has a bearing a washer and a nut. You screw it into the crank insall the washer bigger than the hole in the balancer then the bearing then another washer then the nut you tighten up the nut the bearing spins easilywith the pressure from the nut and it pushes the balancer on the crank. I do not know of where to get one for the ls1 jegs sells them for multiple applications but I don't know if it will work with our engine. Good luck.

Just curious: if you're that worried about it, but would still like performance, why not go with the ATI balancer? I know it's not cheap, but it is basically the stock one x10! Talk to them about it, they will be more than happy to discuss it with you. I think hundreds of thousands of miles on the ASA and C5R cars speak for themselves.

Gm engines have always run better a little loose so the piston slap and all the other noises may be a good thing.

I'm not going to trade anything either. I'll keep my car and build a bigger garage for the new ones.

BTW, no more SES light since the factory balancer went on!
