Also remember that the EPA is now going to be regulating like a **** due to that new law that went through.

lol, an ORY is illegal in EVERY STATE. if you're caught with no cats, you can get fined TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS under FEDERAL LAW. most people don't run cats because their state doesn't have visual inspection. even if you get the codes removed, if Joe Blow looks under your car and sees no cats, you fail. if Joe Blow looks under your hood and sees LT headers, you fail. LT headers are illegal in EVERY STATE because they move the factory location of the cats - which is illegal.

even if your state has no emissions testing, if a cop pulls you over, looks under your car and sees no cats, you can be fined up to tens of thousands of dollars for having no cats. this is a big reason why i will ALWAYS run cats. plus, the car sounds a hell of a lot better with cats regardless of your exhaust setup.

What a lot of shops will do is on the reciept they'll type or write on it saying "For off road use ONLY" this way they pass your car a being a race car only and not used on the streets.

Yes I'm fully aware that not having cats is illegal, thats pretty much common sense . However what I meant by "passing inspection" is just getting the sticker (wasn't sure you could trick the computer system they run the car through by deleting the codes, which I now know you can). I know it technically won't pass, but some people don't care and don't look for cats.

i know, but you always run that risk of being caught. you only need to get caught once to be up to your eyes in trouble.

if you want to get technical, any aftermarket y-pipe that goes along with LT headers, catted or not, is an ORY. it's just if you're caught, you're going to get fined a lot more and you'll be in a lot more trouble for having no cats at all. IMO, it's not worth the risk. you put on cats and your car smells better, it's better for the environment, you run less risk, your car sounds better and you give up next to no horsepower assuming you run a good cat (like the metallic spun magnaflow bullet cats that i intend on purchasing).

i suppose you could always gut the cats. that could at least trick cops, assuming they don't have a laser temp gauge.
