Default How do you bleed air out of coolant system

I put a 160 degree thermostat in about a month ago and was wondering if I need to bleed any air out of the coolant system, or does it bleed the air out itself?

Remove the little hose that goes from the intake to the TB - remove at the intake. Start your car and watch til fluid starts coming out of the intake pipe and reinstall the hose. Your car will have to come up to temp until the thermostat opens before water will flow out the tube.

I take off the hose at throttle body and slowly
fill radiator till it begins to dribble out there. It still takes about 3 heat cycles to
get all the air out..
It seems that when the car warms up it will
really shoot water from there.. you can watch
it without radiator cap on while it warms up.

If you guys are looking for a sure fire way to purge without ANY hastles, the first tip I can give you is when you are removing the heater core lines from the water pump in the begining of your disassebly (ie cam install/water pump R&R) turn both heater hose lines straight up so not to loose or drain any coolant from the heater core. When re-filling the coolant system, jack up the front of the car to the point that you have about 2" of air between the tires and the ground, then refill, you will find doing it this way it takes all the coolant very quick and easily. Another tip would be to monitor exactly what amount was drained out and just make sure it takes it back again.
Joe.
