MTI clear lid. No problems at all. It was stock before and there was no evident tampering. I can see how occasionally the edge of the molded plastic may not get shaved? or the top of the neck might rub....but I don't see those two combining? The shape of the neck will be the same. I honestly had the clips not secure for about a week, but once they settled in, it went fine, no problems since.

If you do it properly, it will be fine. Before I bought the lid, I did change the filter and personally had a little problem with the clips...but this was just a newb thing. I wasn't setting the filter in properly. I really think for most of the problems, either thier filter wasn't set the way it needs to be, or perhaps the molding wasn't shaved all the way off. Sand paper on the edges will not hurt people and thats an easy fix.

Perhaps this is to no avail with the older style lt1. I honestly don't know. But if not getting the MTI is a concern because they are "rubbing," its only an issue with people that are goofing it up.

How many of these do they sell? Lids in general? Perhaps SLP makes an extra special effort to make sure the clearance is better, but again, thats not good for those people that aren't getting the feedback IF they aren't letting it seal properly by not setting the filter right, etc.

I'm not saying get MTI or else, I think a lid is a lid is a lid. But appearance wise...the MTI lid is for me. I will attest that it works.

wait....I thought that you were doing a full conversion. Not just a lid conversion. I have no idea what you would need to mate the 2 together. Maybe someone somewhere makes the hose for the connection, but it may be less than what it is worth to convert just the CAI.

make a small hole that would still fit snug. Some sort of silicone gasket maker would probably keep it in place.
