Default Water Pump Question!!!

How hard is it to install a water pump? Mine has a leak! I've gone through a gal. of dexcool in a month.

A while back I posted about engine detonation. I believe my faulty water pump to be the cause of the engine detonation. Due to the lack of sufficient coolant (i.e. leaky water pump), my engine was running hotter than it should have been. Thus causing detonation, which pulls timing, which hinders performance. x2

PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks!

Brian

Fairly easy. Just get 2 new gaskets and be prepared to spill some coolant.

i bet it is just a gasket that is the problem.. we have pretty good water pumps on these cars.

is it comming from under the pulley or between the block and pump?

i too say its just the gaskets. i just did my cam install and when i put my pump and new gaskets back on it was leaking so i had to tighten the **** out of it and it finally quit leaking.

Have you tried to tighten the bolts at all to see if it will stop???

Not sure where the leak is comming from. It looks to me thhough, like its comming from between the block and the pump! It seems like a substantial leak! <scratches head,thinking...

...Could it be just a bad gasket?

After my H/C job, I noticed a loss of coolant too-- all I needed to do was tighten the bolts, and it was sealed--they had just not been tightened properly and worked themselves loose--
do try that first before you get new gaskets
