Default Stripped air tubes off and no SES lights yet.

I removed the A.I.R. tubes from my car. I disconnected the house halfway up the drivers quarter panel over the wheel well. There is an inside coupler right there and the rubber hose come's off.

I made some block off plates and just left the air pump hooked up and the half hose that was left right where it was. (I will post a picture later).

It just blows a little bit of air on startup, no big deal and it won't throw a light (as of yet).

This is a nice thing to know for those of us that hate the air tubes because they get in the way and want them gone without setting a light to annoy us but don't have tuning or LS1 edit yet. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I will keep everyone posted to make sure I don't set a light. I don't see how it would because it can't know where the air is going anyway. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Eric

Quite a few miles. Lots of city trips in it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> I will keep everone posted. Removing just the air tubes should not set a code as best I could figure so I decided to try it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Tuff crowd today. <img border="0" alt="[Corvette]" title="" src="graemlins/corvette.gif" />

What did you make your blockoff plates with? Scrap sheetmetal or alum cans or what?

We used a piece of 1/8th inch steel. I finished them on a belt sander at the machine shop. Eric should have some pics up soon. You can buy them for like $8 from www.LS1speed.com.

Yeah, scrap steel I had laying around my shop. I cut them out with a torch and drill pressed the bolt holes then handed them to phil for making the shape and cleaning them up.

Only way to fly.

Engine compartment is cleaner looking, easier to start working fast and no SES lights because it still functions. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

How many miles have you driven? I've done things and had to drive a few miles before the code got thrown <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" /> Definently keep us posted.

You WILL set a SES light eventually. The O2 sensors check to see that the air pump is functioning. It may take as many as 100 miles to set the code though. Ever notice your headlights dim for no reason when driving? Thats the air pump testing itself. The computer looks for the O2s to go really lean when it kicks on for a second or two, which tells the computer its functioning.

Pictures should be up today sometime.

Thanks for the sad info. Hauls, dang GM engineers. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Oh well, if I get an SES light from that, the EGR is coming off too. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

When I added an LS6 intake I removed the EGR tube from the intake but left the valve plugged in. Drove it thousands of miles and NEVER got an SES light from it.

I did this same thing with my airpump when I installed headers. I have put over 2000 miles on the car with the airpump coming on for 30 seconds on startup and no ses light.

You should be fine Wizkid.

It says right in the service manual the conditions for setting an AIR code. Finally set a code. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> That stunk. So I removed the EGR too. Why not have a field day. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
