Cat-back or muffler?

Cat-back or muffler? If i were to put some mac headers and a y pipe with cats on the car would it be best to go ahead and get a cat-back too. I already have a flowmaster muffler on the car.
Re: Cat-back or muffler? I have heard of Flowmaster robbing hp on our cars because of the crossflow muffler. I have Edelbrock catback and gained a good bit over stock but after my new moter is in I think I will need a cutout. It is only a 2.75 inch I-pipe, Hooker is a good cheap catback that sounds badd ***. JMO
Re: Cat-back or muffler? well, if money is a concern, i would just get a cutout placed in the intermediate pipe before the rear axle. now if you have the money, i would go after a different catback. hooker catback is the one i'm going with, and it seems to have a pretty popular following among the rest of the people on this board. they all pretty much give you the same HP gain in my opinion, just different sounds an sound levels.

Re: Cat-back or muffler? I just have a Dynomax Super Turbo and it has a very good sound to it (no rasp) and is not loud at idle or part throttle but comes alive at WOT... I like it alot better than any flowmaster mufflers on our cars(even though you can't beat the sound of dual flowmasters on an early SBC)
